Chandler is a metropolis of arts culture, music, and natural wonders. The city takes pride in its history and is home to several museums including the Chandler Museum and the Arizoan Railway Museum.

The Chandler Museum includes Tumbleweed Ranch, an outdoor museum exhibit that explores the history of agricuture. It has a historic grocery store, a home built in 1917, and historic farm equipment on display.

The Arizona Railway Museum’s mission is dedicated to the preservation and education of railways of all kinds. The museum displays mementos, artifacts and railroad equipment from across time. Chandler also is home to the Desert Breeze Railroad, Arizona’s most popular park, you can also enjoy vintage train rides on an open-top coach train or take a spin on the old-fashioned carousel.

Music and Festivals

The Chandler Ostrich Festival is a unique yearly festival that ties into the roots of the city. Chandler was once home to many ostrich farms where feathers were gathered to make women’s hats in the era. Today, the Chandler Ostrich Festival celebrates that heritage with ostrich races, a car show, a parade and a 5k run. The festival also holds races for dogs and pigs. Children can enjoy a petting zoo and camel rides. The Bear Hollow traveling show also provides woodworking demonstrations with a chainsaw by carving one-of-a-kind carved pieces.

If you enjoy jazz, you might want to check out the Chandler Jass Festival which is held in April. Live jazz musicians line the historic district of downtown Chandler in both indoor and outdoor venues. All performances are free and you can enjoy a meal at one of the many downtown restaurants as you take in the music.

Arts Culture

If you are looking for arts culture, you’ll want to check out the Chandler Center for the Art. The Chandler Center provides arts entertainment and education in the visual and performing arts. It has three theaters and a 2,000 square foot exhibit gallery. Chandler Cultural Foundation provides the fundraising and programming for all performances and exhibits at the center. The Vision Gallery, a satellite arts program that is an arm of the center in historic downtown Chandler, which provides free arts education to the community and showcases many local artists.

Downtown Chandler

Downtown Chandler is also home to cafes and restaurants, art studios and galleries, and unique boutique shops. The historic district also offers a weekly arts walk that showcases 35 local artists in the historic square. You can browse the many painting, photographs, pottery, woodworking, jewelry and sculpting vendors and find local pieces to add to the decor of your new home.

The Chandler Farmer’s Market, also in downtown Chandler, hosts over 30 local vendors and provides live music entertainment by local musicians. The market is open every Thursday from 3 pm to 7 pm.
